Independent open source · Linux first · Windows too
Luma Mail is a Gmail desktop client with a custom, animated Qt Quick interface and a Rust engine. Read, compose, reply, search and organize mail directly in your Google account, with configurable limits on disposable local caching.

Account and unified folders, labels, threading, read/star/importance actions, archive, recoverable Trash, rich composition, inline replies, online signatures and in-memory attachment previews.
The desktop connects directly to Google APIs. Luma has no hosted mail-processing backend. Refresh tokens use Linux Secret Service or Windows Credential Manager; access tokens stay in memory.
Gmail access provides the email-client functionality. Optional read-only Contacts access finds matching saved-contact pictures. Optional basic Gmail settings access manages Luma's sender filters and your primary sending address's online signature. Optional app-limited Drive access uploads selected large attachments and signature pictures.
Optional scopes are offered together at sign-in. Skipping them leaves ordinary mail usable. Settings lets you disable Contact photos and Drive links; Google Account connections lets you revoke Luma's authorization. Disabling a feature does not itself revoke an already-issued Google grant or remove existing server-side filters or shared files. Read the permission-by-permission explanation and controls and privacy policy.
No advertising, analytics or generalized AI training with Google user data. Received pictures and previews use bounded memory; searches and drafts stay online. Settings, essential account metadata, OS credentials, optional recent-recipient suggestions, runtime libraries and user-selected downloads have separate purposes and retention rules, explained in the privacy policy.
Luma Mail is maintained by SleepyZzed, independently of Google. Contact mcverdict@gmail.com for support or privacy questions. Source, build instructions, release checksums and the acceptance roadmap are public in the repository. Keep private mail and credentials out of public issues.
